Fishing in December

The rain is still pouring down and we have a river in our side yard! The kids asked yesterday if they could go fishing and my answer in the most polite way... "what, it is cold and raining outside?" After much coaxing, they decided to fish off of the back deck! They love these fishing poles and many days they just sit and cast their lines into the yard. I have never really understood fishing and the concept of waiting and waiting but my kids seem to think it is lots of fun! Me, on the other hand, was just enjoying some quiet in the house and not having to play referree or find something for them to do in the house!
